Who it's for
Anyone who wants distilled water without buying it by the bottle forever — for drinking, or for things like CPAP machines, steam irons and plants. If your tap water is hard or you just want it as clean as possible, a distiller is the most thorough home option.
The honest take
Distilling is slow and uses electricity — that's the trade-off for how thoroughly it purifies. Stainless steel (not plastic) is the one to get, so this is the right spec. If you already buy distilled or filtered water regularly, one of these pays for itself over time and cuts the plastic.
